LINEAR RESPONSIBILITY CHART (LRC)  FOR STATE SAFETY PROGRAMME 
Linear Responsibility Chart (LRC), describes the participation by various roles in completing activities / tasks or deliverables for a project or business process. It is especially useful in clarifying roles and responsibilities in cross-functional/departmental projects and processes.The LRC attempts to clarify the authority and working relationships in the project team  or business process. A chart that is in the form of a matrix with activities /tasks listed in rows and departments/persons in the columns.

LRC SYMBOLS
Responsibility: Person who owns the activity, is answerable for quality of the activity and has the duty to ensure the activity is performed.
Authority:  Person who has the power to establish, modify the course of action for the activity and has the duty of approving the activity. But can delegate the authority.
Must be Consulted: Person that must be consulted for information and/or subject matter expertise on the activity.
May be Consulted: Person that may be consulted for information and/or subject matter expertise on the activity.
Must be Notified: Person that must be notified about the activity
Benefits of the LRC to SSP include:
1. Portrays formal authority, responsibility and accountability among aviation organisations and person for SSP
2. Help all aviation organisations to understand how they relate and to know what is expected for teamwork
3. Acquaints new aviation organisation/ person with how things are being done
4. Brings out any potential conflict among aviation organisations/persons before the trouble starts
5. Permits all State Aviation Organisations to see the "big picture" of how each  fits into the overall SSP activities.
6. Provides a standard for monitoring progress of State Safety Programme.
7. It is a practical way to show interfaces among aviation organisations/persons within the State.
